By ringing directory assistance to get a telephone number, students practice greetings for telephone conversations, asking for and giving telephone numbers and asking for information to be repeated.

Scenario Variation

The directory assistant or the customer may be in a particular emotional state such as cranky, sad, happy, or tired.

Props: Headpiece for the operator and mobile phone for the caller

Make directory assistant’s headphones with pipe cleaners.
