About 花見
花見 is an event to appreciate the beauty of さくら (cherry blossoms) in springtime. For 花見 , people gather at various locations to see the spectacle of さくら in bloom and have picnics under the さくら trees. During the さくら season, there are often さくら festivals to provide an even more festive atmosphere.

Suggested Activities
Activity 1: Let’s have a 花見 picnic!
Step 1: Make a chigiri-e 花見 invitation card
On the front cover, you can use origami to create さくら. Draw the tree trunk first and then tear bits of origami and glue them on the tree trunk to represent flowers. Inside the card, put information, such as 〇〇さんへ、ばしょ、じかん etc.

Step 2: Hand out the invitation card to invite your classmates
「○○さん、こんにちは」「こんにちは」「こんど、はなみをします。これ、どうぞ」「ありがとう」「ぜひ来(き)てください」
※Make sure that they hold the card with both hands when giving or receiving.
Step 3: Have a 花見 picnic
Hold a 花見 picnic outside in a park, on school grounds (if you have a suitable place) or in the classroom by putting a さくら video on the screen.
Spread a picnic tarp and invite the others using phrases such as 「どうぞ」「ありがとう」.
※Make sure people take off their shoes before stepping on the tarp.
Comment on the さくら using phrases such as 「さくら、きれいですね」「そうですね」etc.
Offer food like おにぎり using phrases such as 「どうぞ」「どうも」「いただきます」etc.
Activity 2:Let’s make さくら bloom
Step 1: Draw a tree trunk on a large sheet of paper and hang it on the wall.
Step 2: Everyone can then make cherry blossoms with origami, create cherry blossom stamps with sponges, or dip their hands in pink ink to stamp flowers on the tree.
